if you would like any information about the BI 9000.
Please correspond by e-mail only.
Note: I do not know of any simple way to
safely cheat the system. Theoretically, it would cost nearly $1000 to design
and build a suitable surrogate transmitter.
Most of the questions I've been getting have been about the range. Unfortunately,
there is no standard range. The BI 9000 is configurable between 30 and 300 feet,
and metallic obstacles can reduce the range. It does have a feature (which can be
disabled by the monitoring agency) that indicates when you are leaving the range.
The yellow range light on the box will start flashing 15-45 seconds after you
leave the range. If you get back in range right away, it won't register a
violation. Of course, this assumes that the range light isn't disabled. If you
have time when you are allowed to leave (for work or school or whatever), you
can try taking a minute to test the range light then.
