Patrick's philosophy, brief history, and other boring facts
Here's what I look like!! Well okay, not
really, but sort of. These pictures are really old. Now my hair is a bit
shorter and dyed black.
Well, like I said before on my main page, my name is Patrick M. Glass. Oh
if you must know, my middle name is Michael. I didn't pick it though. I
guess the only people who do pick their names have to pay money to the
government or something. But I'm used to it by now. I was born on June 10,
1975 (that would make me 22 for those of you in the Michigan Milita) in a
little middle of nowhere place calledMarshalltown,
Iowa. There really isn't much there to speak of. When I was 7, I moved
to Fayetteville,
Arkansas, which is a much better place. It's almost like being in a
real city, but it's small enough that it doesn't get annoying. I really do
like it here. I graduated from Fayetteville High
School in 1993, but as I keep finding out, I must have forgotten
everyone I ever went to school with. Just as well, being a teenager sucks.
For a little while I was an English Major at the University of Arkansas, which was
okay. I'm not there now, and if someday I should get enough money to go
back to school, I don't know if I'll go there. Who knows. For way too damn
long I've worked at McDonald's in
Springdale. It's not the best job in the world, but I get away with having
long hair and occasionally painting my fingernails blue, and I get paid
pretty well. I could be a manager, but I'd rather not be.
But enough of the boring historical shit. What about me?? Well I don't
know if I could tell you in the space of this webpage and make myself
sound intersting enough for you to actually want to read it!! My main love
in life is music. It's the one thing that keeps me
sane. I have a very wide range of things that I
like, but the things I don't like really annoy me. Maybe because I
think I could do better than Matchbox 20 or Alanis Morrisette. I play an
acoustic guitar (I can also play bass, electric guitar (duh!), and a
little bit of keyboards, and I used to play cello when I was in junior
high) and used to be in a band with my ex-girlfriend/best friend Alena called Maramlayde. We wrote
some really cool songs, it's just too bad most people will never get to
hear them. Sometimes we still play, but not too often since she moved to
Little Rock. I'm looking for someone to play with, and if you saw my list of bands and are into the same things,
why not drop me a line and see if we
can jam sometime. Other things I do to amuse myself other than listening
to my CDs and records (yes, I still have records, over 200 LPs and 300
45's and always on the hunt for more!!) and playing my guitar is
occasionally writing poetry. I've recently started
writing again after nearly 3 years without writing anything. Stay tuned to
the page for some more of my work. I enjoy watching wierder movies (I'll
give you a whole list later, but my favorites include The Crying Game,
Clerks, Chasing Amy, Pulp Fiction, Slacker, Rocky Horror Picture Show,
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, A Hard Day's Night, Pump Up the Volume,
Fargo, etc....). I also love to read. Fayetteville has a great used
bookstore where I buy most of the stuff I read. I'll have more on that
later too. Unlike most men on earth, I'm not really into sports, but if
the Cubs are on, I usually watch them
play. I'm also online quite a bit. I used to be on IRC, but I got
drug into America Online by some of my
friends who happened to be on there. I just kept meeting more and more AOL
people, and quite a few of them live elsewhere in Arkansas...and one thing
lead to another and now I'm addicted!!! Thanks Denise!!! Other than that,
hanging out with my friends, work and sleep take
up a bit of my time.
And now, some brief philosophical and sociogocial ramblings. Just what you
wanted to see, right??? Probably not, but here goes anyway. As far as
other people go, I get along with most people if they have at least half a
brain. Maybe it's just me, but I'm annoyed by stupid people. I guess we
all are, huh? I don't like it when people are phony around me. Be honest
with me and we'll get along. If you try to be something you're not (and
this is mostly what I mean by being stupid) you're probably not worth my
time...sorry if that sounds mean, but hell. I try to be as
true to myself as I can be at all times and
do what I want to do regardless of what others will say or think. But then
at the same time, I'm usually pretty shy...unless I'm drunk :) Anyways,
politically I'm practically a socailist, even though I know socialism only
really works on paper. but living in a commune would be fine with me. I
don't go to church, nor do I believe in "God". I consider myself an
agnostic. Maybe there's something up there, maybe not. So I guess I'm sort
of an existentialist too. All I want out of life is to do things that make
me happy, even if I don't know what that is yet. Right now I really don't
have any sort of career aspirations, but I do have my hopes and dreams.
I'd like to do something in the music industry...most likely be in a band
that makes it. I'd love to own a used record store. I'd like to write
enough good poetry to get a book or two published. I'd like to travel the
country in a van just seeing places I wouldn't usally go and meeting
people I'd otherwise never know. And last but not least, I'd like to find
the perfect bar...LOL
And now, the lightning round. My favorite band is The Beatles. My
favorite book is
Catcher in the Rye. My favorite drink is Pepsi. My favorite color is blue (like my
eyes and sometimes my fingernails). I'm 6'1" and weigh 27 pounds. Okay I
really weigh somewhere around 180, but it seems like I weigh 27 pounds
sometimes. My hair is long because I got bored and I thought it looked
stupid short for the first 17 years of my life. If I could be any animal,
I'd be a bird, probably a blue jay. If I could have a converstaion with
any dead person I'd probably pick John
Lennon, who was also my favorite Beatle. The best concert I ever went
to was The
Cardigans/Ben Lee at the Cain's
Ballroom in Tulsa, OK. I'm gonna go sleep now. I like to sleep. Thank you
for reading. Hope you're not gonna sleep. :)
