This stuff is what people have emailed me
about Psychefunkapus. It's
either about the page itself, or the band or whatever they feel like
talking about or whatever. If you want to be on here, mail me at
patrick@spy.net and babble on like a
fool about how Psychefunkapus is
your favorite band. Since some of the band members do in fact read this
page, they'll know how cool you think they are. Atom requested the return
of this page, so here it is.....enjoy :) Oh, and if you mail me and you
don't want to be seen here, please tell me that, or else your stuff
will be on this page.

I just found your home page for Psychefunkapus. I found your =
interpretation of Evol-ving interesting. Did you ever think of it as =
being a Jekyll/Hyde story? And I always thought of Banana Slug King as =
being about Jabba the Hut from the Star Wars movies. You can hear Jabba =
laughing at the end of the song and isn't Jabba slug-like? It may sound =
odd but people have written songs about stranger things. But no matter =
what: I love these guys! What a band. Have you heard of any of the =
members getting into or starting other bands?

hey, what's up? I am very new to this whole internet thing, so bear with me.
o.k. Psychefunkapus were great, weren't they. I myself am from Marin
county, san rafael, my city, is not far from "point reyes ca". but were they
from the san geronimo valley?
anyway, i have skin, and an old worn out demo of psychefunkapus that their
manager's ex?girlfriend gave my mom years ago, but slut child has partially
disappeared, unfortunately. i agree, am is the strongest song on the album.
i saw these guys in concert a couple of times; once at a county fair
(crazy,no? i'm not sure any one knew who they were yet), and then at their
farewell marin? concert, with skankin pickle and my friends old band, cfb.
i hope this email isn't just too dorky :) its always fun to get mail

Hello
I am an 18-year old high-schooler from Finland.
I think your Psychefunkapus home page is way cool.
I play bass and I snowboard.
I was watching this snowboard film the other night, it was
called Riders On The Storm, and it had the song "Eyeball"
by Psychefunkapus. It just blew me away. I had to gather
the most of my brain with a teaspoon from the back wall of
my room. After that I played the song over and over again.
I had never heard of the band before, but the song made me
a fan right away.
I would appreciate very, very much if I could get e-mail or
some music tapes from you. I'll pay ANYTHING, I just want
to hear some more Psychefunkapus.
Please write me back, my address is juhake@gustav.mantta.fi

Saw your Web page and I think it's great. Cool graphics! I'm hoping that
the band continues to record although I heard rumors that they have broken
up a couple years. But that's just a rumor I heard from a record store
clerk.
I live in the Bay Area and have caught some of their shows. Two here in
San Jose and one down in Santa Barbara when I was going to UCSB. In fact,
my neighbor at UCSB went to high school with some of the members back in
Marin and had them over his place for a party after their gig at the UCSB
Pub (seating capacity: 65). This was after their first album and no one
knew who the hell they were.
Let me know if you hear any news about the band. They definitely one of
the most underrated bands around. And I'll let you know if I catch
anything around the Bay Area. They used to play clubs all over the place
here and used to make it in articles about the local band scene but I
haven't seen anything for well over two years. Talk to you later and keep
up the cool page.

I was starting to think that I was the only Psychepuckapus around!
These guys are amazing. I've been a fan from the first monent that I
heard them. I picked up thier first album used for about 5 bucks
about three years ago. I hate that they couldn't have kept doing
their music. I see how it not not really comercialable, but it sure
does rock! Since the first listen, I got Skin, but I haven't found
anything else. I guess that's it for albums, but I still look for
bootlegs and such.
For Psychefunkapus fans: I got another album from a band called Fungo
Mungo titled "Humungous" that sound a little like P-funk-apus, and in
the sleve of the CD, they include them in their thank you's. What
have you found that has similar energy and taste to Psychefunkapus?
I'm dying to hear.

even knew who
psychefunkapus were! I have been a fan since early 1990 when I picked up a
used copy of thier
self titled debut album. what a ppiece of work that was! I am still
singing SLUT CHILD and AM in the shower.
I liked the CD so much, I taped it and stuck it im my tape player in my car.
4 years later when I
sold the car, the tape came out. but I somehow misplaced both tapes and the
CD. I would REALLY
REALLY like to get a copy of that so I can play it while I am working.
after graduation from high school in 91, I was suprised to see another album
by the crew. I had to snatch
it up for 16 bucks. I still play the CD often, but I don't enjoy it as much
as the scathing social statements
made by their debut. Surfing on jupiter, hillbilly happy smash, and banana
slug king are the best cuts
off of this album. I still enjoy the other more sappy songs on the CD too.
if you see a copy of thier self titled debut, please buy it and send it to
me COD or something.
thanks

Actually it was amazing to see that people still remember the band, and even
more amazing still that some people "got it" just by listening to the
records. To be perfectly honest with you, I never liked how our records
turned out at all..epecially the first one. I thought it (the first album)
was ruined by the over production and I can't help but agree with alot of
what the harsh critic that you included on the page (why?) said about it.
But the band was very fun "Live" (our true medium) and it's touching to see
that people actually remembered. Thanks...
As for Dieselhed, it's a totally different band...Kind of a country punk
thing.
You may like it and you may not. We are going to play at the South by
Southwest Music Conference this next month in Austin on the 15th or the 16th
(maybe both) of March. And then we're touring eastward through St. Louis on
the 18th and on to the east coast.
Let me know if you are interested in seeing the band or hearing it or
whatever. If you send me your snail mail address I'll try to send you some
stuff. I may even have an old psychefunkapus shirt laying around that you've

Hi Patrick!
I was thrilled to find your page about Psychefunkapus, a briliant band I
have known close to nothing about. I bought their Skin-album in 93, it
must have been, and very soon grew to love it. But not once have I read
a line about the band. Too bad they have split up. Very nice to hear
that there is another album. If in any way it would be possible for you
to send me a cd or a tape of their debut I would be delighted! In
exchange I would gladly send you a cd with my band, HUEREMERE. We do not
either hesitate to mix musical styles or even languages. On the album
there is a happy Black Sabbath-polka, protest-funk, dance metal and the
more traditional, slightly 70s-ish, experimental ethno-rock, sung in
English, Swedish , a bit of Spanish, Swahili and Sanscrit. Or I will
just pay you if you prefer that.
Hope to hear from you soon

Patrick,
Man, I can't believe there's a Pfunkepus homepage. Is there anything
you can't find on the Internet? I'm psyched, because this is the
first I've been aware that anyone besides myself had even heard of
these guys. I first heard them a few years ago when I was a college
DJ at Louisiana Tech. I played them a lot, but when I left school I
didn't copy the cd or anything. Then a few weeks ago I was digging
through a used cd rack and found both of their releases. I haven't
been the same since. I had forgotten what fun this group is, how full
of energy. Even their name is great; it combines three of my favorite
things: I'm very interested in mental illness, I love funk music, and
I think the last part speaks for itself.
Anyway, it's too bad we won't be getting any more offerings from them.
Maybe you can convince them to do a reunion tour, a la the Eagles.
While I'm writing to a homepage dealing with eclectic music, has anyone
heard of a group called Snake Hips? They are another college radio
classic whom I have never heard from since. If anyone has any info,
please write me: rhoran@nomvs.lsumc.edu

Patrick,
It sounds like you are one of the few people who actually got their
psychefunkapus new, off the rack. Most of the people who wrote to the
webpage seem to have gotten theirs the same way I got mine, used.
Maybe that explains why they are no longer in operation.
It reminds me of a dilemna I have always felt about talented, unknown
musicians. When you find something rare and wonderful, it becomes a
little less rare and wonderful for you when everyone else discovers it,
too. On the other hand, a sense of justice demands that you hope that
those with talent will be recognized for it. Depending on where you
live, you may have heard of a group called Cowboy Mouth. They are a
cool, fun, college-rock band from New Orleans, who have been playing
clubs in the South for years. I first heard them my freshman year of
college, and I was hooked. Their drummer/lead singer exudes an energy
that makes for a great show. Well now they have a major record label,
so all the cheesy-ass pop and "alternative" station are playing their
single, which they have actually been playing for years. I'm happy
for them, but now I have to share the space in front of the stage with
a bunch of Green Day fans. (No offense to Green Day, but have these
kids ever heard of The Clash?)
Anyway, just a couple of thoughts. I'm sure you'll find them to be
worth what you paid for them. Thanks for creating the great homepage.
I'll be keeping an eye out for Deisel Hed.
Later,
Clint

Hey there...
I had the pleasure of seeing psychefunkapus play many times back in
'89-'90 when that big, schmizzle-fizzle band Primus used to open for them!
I recall one memorable moment at the marin county fairgrounds... I faked
an epeliptic fit in the middle of the mosh pit and several people thought
I was really having one...this guy comes up to me really concerned
"Hey... you should get out of here! Someone in your condition shouldn't
be in here" What a jiznits....couldn't he tell I was trying to dance!
Anyways, I was just looking for links to bands my band played with
(nuclear rabbit http://www.nrabbit.com) -
what a shameless plug! ;-) and
found this site....so when its up and ready, i'll link it here. I'm
kinda shocked to find only one reference to them....they were a big and
influential part of the whole "funk thrash" (or whatever the media bo-bo
bodies liked to call it) scene in the bay area.
Nuclear Rabbit played with Psychefunkapus on January 1st 1993...and when
atom's bass broke mid-set, I lent him mine. I think he's the only person
I've ever allowed to handle my bass for over five minutes - and
rightfully so.... he was partly responsible for me to get working on my
slap chop-suey noodle bacon mish-mish.....I don't think I ever heard
anything about them after that.... oh, but I saw the drummer at the
arcade on fourth st. in san rafael, however, I was in the midst of
kicking kintaro ass in mortal kombat II....so I didn't say hello. I
guess they read this.... so hello.
Anyways, good work! And keep up the stir-fry. May the 'pus live forever
in cyber-migmog.

Subject: I used to be the Pus' photographer!
I took pictures of the Pus for about 3 or 4 years! I was very happy to
see that this site existed. I have atom's email, but I've lost track of
Jon since I moved to Seattle. Paul also has seemed to disappear and his
mom won't give out his phone number! I saw these guys something like 60
or 70 times and I really miss them both as a band and as individuals...
paul especially. I've seen Dieselhed a few times and own boith of their
albums. If you can find them buy them. very fun!
I'm putting a link to this page!

As mentioned in my previous letter, I'm a big fan of these guys! Atom,
Jon, Paul, Manny, Gene! How the hell are you! It's Krk! The guy who
used to blind you with his flash several nights a week!
I remember the good old days at the Catus Club when you guys would play
for like three hours and exhaust everybody in the crowd, but keep on
going. It was the most fun you could have without getting arrested!
I'll never forget the show at the Nightbreak when Martha was playing
Cello and Jerry Harrison came to check out what you were like live! Too
much fun!
Ever hear from the boys in Fungo and whatever happened to the Blüchunks?
If anyone knows where Paul is contact me! He and I were to do some track
swapping and then he just disappeared!
talk to you later!
